HOUSE K
Sited in the Foothill Woodlands of the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Northern New Mexico, this passive solar home is clustered around a small natural granite rock outcropping in a pinion and juniper forest. The C shaped plan lends itself to future additions which will further encircle the outcropping creating a semi-enclosed cloister scheme. Solar design features include large south facing windows and clerestories with overhangs to shade them from summer sun and brick floors throughout as a thermal sink.
