AN OPTICAL EFFECT

“If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.” William Blake

I question the validity of our perception and conventional wisdom. I am fascinated by the human figure, the abstract qualities of time and the fluid qualities of what we traditionally label physical solidity. Rooted in the Buddhist belief that our eyes provide us with the strongest delusional experience of all our senses. I view photography as a method and way of sculpting light, which affords the photographer an opportunity to enhance and expand our awareness.

Mirage is part of a collection of images that are representative of a sixteen month exploration of photography. 1999
